Welcome to the algoguide
«thealgoguide» is an interactive project on the social and ethical implications of algorithmic bias.
Its starting point is a proposal discussed in the European Parliament in 2017: the introduction of an “E-persona” status for autonomous
algorithms in order to close liability gaps in robotics. This technocratic proposal reflects a growing unease about the irresponsibility of algorithmic systems.
The project understands itself as an artistic intervention that makes these issues tangible and addresses responsibility,
agency, and social relationships in the context of automated systems. At its core is a chatbot, embodied in a fictional character,
who poses questions about being human, social patterns, prejudice, and discrimination – with the aim of showing what algorithms should not adopt or reinforce.
Special emphasis is placed on the perspectives of people from marginalized groups, since discrimination is also perpetuated in smart technologies.
By participating, you contribute to a growing archive that documents diverse social realities.
The contributions will be incorporated into an artistic evaluation (a collected volume of the conversations) and open up a broader discussion
about the impact of artificial intelligence.
If you would like to receive a copy after completion,
please write to us at the email address below. You can end the session at any time by closing the window.
Do you identify as part of a marginalized group?
If you answered "yes" to the previous question, you can indicate which marginalized group you feel you belong to.
Please also indicate the country in which you currently live.
